About the Trust

Alleviating the suffering and poverty of the rural poor around Poorandampalayam — through relief, education and medical care since 1989.

Our story

Founded on a Noble Objective

Thangavel Charitable Trust was founded on 8th December 1989 and legally registered on 15th December 1989 at Poorandampalayam village, Sultanpet Block, Sulur Taluk, in the district of Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu — by a committed social worker, Mr. Thangavel.

The Trust began with a simple, noble objective: to alleviate the suffering and poverty of the rural poor of the surrounding locality. Initially, children of resource-poor families of Poorandampalayam and neighbouring villages were supported with better clothing, educational supplies and supplementary education.

Keeping this vision, by the year 1990 the Trust started the Kalaimagal Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Poorandampalayam — today educating thousands of children every year.
